oh boy. songs have such an emotional affect on me. like if i'm feeling a certain emotion and the exact right song comes on with the exact right chord progressions, my emotions at that point are meanifested in the song. sometimes i think i try to push back my emotions because maybe i don't want to feel them all the time, but those darn songs know exactly how to get them. i like it in a way, but sometimes i don't like it. i like listening to a cd and having the old feelings come back. like when i listen to my paul simon cd, i remember my general feelings from the first time i listened to it. i think that happens for all of my cds. the emotion that was the strongest while i listened to that particular cd in the past comes out the next time i listen to it. sometimes the words don't have anything to do with it. they could be happy words or something but they could make me feel really sad.

speaking of feeling really sad, i was remembering today the day that i had to say goodbye to Will at governor's school. oh, man was that sad. we went to lunch during my lunch break at the tavern restaurant in old salem (i think) but we were rushed for time. we had a good talk, but i had to leave early so i could go back to class. so i hugged him and said goodbye, knowing that i wouldn't see him for a really long while because he was moving to LA. he stayed to finish his lunch while i walked away and it was the most depressing thing ever. i walked by and waved to him sitting right by the window. it was a short walk back to class, but i couldn't help but cry. it was one of those cries where you don't want to cry because you're about to see people, people that you don't want to see you crying, so it makes you cry more. i think i should have skipped, but that would have caused a big hoo-ha and i didn't want that. it was the most depressing and sad thing ever. and plus, it was in like the 4th week of governor's school, so i was going through a homesick stage and all that crap, which didn't help.

speaking of governor's school and songs, i am listening to coldplay and the song that bridgit and kaila always played (God put a smile upon your face) just came on. oh, memories. i miss gsw. and i miss will. and i love music. the end.

It's amazing what an impact just a couple words make. Sometimes, some little thing that somebody says can either make or break my day. Like if somebody comes up and just says "hey, what's up?" to me, unexpectedly, it makes me really happy. And it's also weird how just saying my name will make me feel happy. Like, instead of saying just "Bye", they say "Bye, Emma!" I mean, sometimes I can be in whole conversations and I never really use the person's name. Yet it makes such an impact, as well. So when somebody says something small like "See ya later, Emma" when they only normally say just "Bye" or something, it totally makes my day. Maybe I'm not making any sense.

I had a good day today. Nothing special to make it amazing or anything, just a generally good day. Even though Calculus came close to going over my head, closer than it's ever come before, it was still ok. My teachers were in good moods. That always helps. Like when Mr. Castillo is in a bad mood, it depresses the hell out of me. (I thought I'd throw that in there for all you Catcher in the Rye fans) But today he was just chillin out and he didn't get mad at us or anything and he didn't try to teach us something confusing. I also had a good day because I exercised. I'm pumped about swim season, I think I've already lost 2 pounds. Hahaha. My goal isn't to lose weight as much as it is to get in shape and get toned. Swimming does a good job of toning my body. Maybe I'll swim more regularly even after swim season is over. I also got some quality piano practice in, thanks to Mrs. Paul totally calling me and Mallory out about how we weren't practicing right. I could sense that I wasn't getting much accomplished, and she pinpointed it. Now I concentrate on my problem areas before I let myself play the parts I already know. Discipline, discipline, discipline. Oh boy. Then I did my homework (in 3 classes! yet it still didn't ruin my day) and then I watched some CSI while knitting some more of my Kerry-scarf. I'm making some progress. Now if I only knew how to cast off... I think another factor for my good day is that I had Postal Service "Recycled Air" stuck in my head all day. I like that song. It's a very calm sort of song. I would write the lyrics out, but that's not the calm part. The whole thing is just nice. I knew that all I needed was some good music to help me get rid of my stressed-out poser mood.

So tomorrow is Friday and I am really excited. I mean, what's not to love about Friday? Joan of Arcadia, Football Game, Slushie show, sleeping in... (yessss)

I wrote this for English, and I thought I'd share it with you. Enjoy!

a sonnet about jeans.
by emma refvem.

they looked from that tall rack with their big eyes
their legs reached out to me through flocks of folks
they said: “hello, my dear we are your size”
they used their vintage wash and flares to coax

but some are like a leech upon my skin
they cling so tightly to my butt and thighs
I only fit in them when I suck in
to pull them off immediately would seem quite wise

but how can I resist my favorite jeans?
those knights in shining armor that don’t tease
that make my lower half feel like a queen’s
politely hiding flaws so no-one sees.

the quest for legs that look so long and lean
is done ‘cause I have found my perfect jeans.

This past weekend was pretty awesome.

Friday: I worked @ the Jaycee Booth @ the ALF, selling fried apple pies. Then I sat at home and moped because I wasn't going to Ziggy's or anything fun b/c of the SAT. Joan of Arcadia was good- the guy that played God was really cute. I think you have to watch the show to not be at least somewhat grossed out by that statement.

Saturday: SAT 2. Biology sucked. Math 2C sucked more. Writing wasn't so bad. We had to write an essay. The prompt: "A great decision was made when _____". Alex wrote about the founding fathers. Kathryn wrote about electing Bush. I wrote about what I had for lunch on Friday. I said "A gread decision was made when I decided what to eat for lunch yesterday. Let me explain..." And then I went on to talk about how I couldn't choose between a hotdog, a cheeseburger, and a "world famous pork chop sandwich." I figured that I had to write about something I knew b/c I only had 20 minutes. And I also figured that it was more about how you wrote than what you wrote about. Plus, it was a vague prompt. Afterwards, I went home and waited for Shmimmy and Kristin to come. Then we went to the ALF then Goobers then Home and then to Dobson and then to Wal Mart and then back home to knit. Fun times to the max!!!

Sunday: Church, then knitting and more movies, then Shmimmy and Kristin left, then Quest @ 4:30 where we watched "The First Night" with Richard Gere who played Lancelot, to whom I fondly referred as "Lancehot" and Sean Connery who played Arthur. It was funny. Then I went to the Senior Leader Meeting @ Eric and Kristin's house and then I came home.

I had tons of fun this weekend w/ my CIT buddies. I miss cheerio- but I more importantly miss the cheerio people.

I watched a lot of movies this weekend. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- awesome. Kristin figured it out and I just helped out with figuring out the hair colors and stuff. Mean Girls- good, as always. "Aallll yooouuu sucka MC's got nothin on me..." hahaha. Saved- good stuff. Interesting. It evoked a very governor's school feeling in me, if that makes any sense. It evoked the same feeling that some things at governor's school evoked for me, kind of a sense of hoplesness b/c of the neverending gray areas that cover so many topics. Drop Dead Gorgeous- funny. I think I fell asleep for most of it. Along Came Polly. This, too, was fun stuff. Breakfast Club- first time seeing it on DVD- I usually watch it on TV. I really love that movie. The First Knight- although I didn't pay attention to some of it, I thought it was good. Sean Connery had a lot of one-liners of advice. I kept making fun of his accent but nobody was getting it and it was never-ending because he talked a lot in the movie. Haha. The fact that I watched a lot of movies reminds me a lot of Governor's School, too.

Speaking of reminding me of GSW, I had a moment in English. We were talking about craziness and how maybe you're sane and everybody else is crazy, and so I just had the urge to ask "What is craziness?"- like the true GSW-er I am. I miss GSW.

On another note, open swim was today. Boy, I'm out of shape. But I'm really looking forward to slimming down and making states and having tons of fun b/c high school swimming is a ton of fun. That pumps me up a lot.

I'm sorry for calling him an extra-credit whore. It was inspired by the quote from one of the issues of The Forum from GSW.

number one on the list of top ten things GSW really stands for:

Good place to discover, upon attending a required lecture, that although you were sure you were the Smartest, really you're an uncompassionate grade-whore who got to the top by having no life and caring only about Winning.

Oh, GSW. How I miss you.

I think I had something good to post about, but I forgot it. I forgot it so much that i don't even remember the subject or anything.

So I've totally gotten over my music-poser insecurities, and I can't wait to get my CD's- I think I got the F.L. and P.S. haha. code language.

Since I forgot what I wanted to post about, I will commence in telling you about my day, because it was a pretty good day. It is going to be pretty detailed, so consider yourself warned. But not in a bad way or anything.

I woke up today and remembered that we had an Interact Board meeting at 7:30. I also remembered that both of my parents were gone and I was responsible Charlotte getting to school. So I called Megan T. and she was able to take C. to school. So I arrived and we had a meeting about board members' responsibilities, and Mrs. Rhoden was really emphasizing organization skills that weren't present last year or something. It was really ironic b/c Nick came in and asked her where our ALF booth was and she said "Oh, I don't know. I forgot to call them to find out, just walk up and down the streets to find it." The epitome of unorganization. Whatever.

First period was chatty. I forget exactly what we did. Yesterday's class was more fun, because we had A.A. Yesterday was really fun, in general. Perhaps I'll take a break and talk some about yesterday. Sounds good.

So... Yesterday. English was full of Extra Credit whores. And I apologize for calling them *cough* him *cough* a whore, but it's true. They sell themselves for grades. For example, somebody wasn't talking at all in class, but as soon as Mrs. Goldwasser reminded us of our extra credit checks for in class participation, his hand was up. Before she was even done looking up from the book into which she was talking. Oh man. Don't even get me started. Then, it was time for A.A., my haven. I love that class. Goldie/Macado is my advisor, and our class is really small because everyone either moved or dropped out. So it was gonna be me and Anderson and Rebekah, and then like Kayla Webster and Doug and Mandy, but they don't talk very much. So I was excited. Then the "extra credit" monger, after some confusion on his real advisor, decided he was just going to stay for ours. It got under my skin. He was ruining this group that has been the same for like 2 years. And he just was going to walk on in like he owned the place or something. I didn't know exactly why I was being so defensive about Advisor Advisee, I think it had something to do with the extra credit. But stay, he did, and so did Lizzie, which made it better. I like Lizzie. So we were listening to flamenco guitar music and talking about college essays and stuff (instead of responsibility), when MAHS went into lockdown. Lockdowns are so much fun. Macado forgot about the locking the door part until we reminded her, and it was kinda funny. We were sitting in the corner of our room whispering and making jokes about lockdowns and it was pretty fun. Then it was over and I had to return to the reality that I had a biology test to take. Uggh. I think we learned physics stuff in calculus, and then I crammed for bio during lunch. Then I took it. And it sucked, because we had 7 minutes less to take it in. And also because biology tests generally suck. It wasn't really that bad. I mean, I could have known the Calvin Cycle a little better, but whatever. Then there was spanish and I think we didn't do anything again. Still haven't moved out of the review pages. Oh well. Then after school there was piano and I had to take Charlotte to voice, where I slept through her lesson. It was a good and greatly needed nap. Then I think I went through test withdrawl. Watched a lot of T.V. Then went to bed.

So now today doesn't look as exciting. Basically calculus was calculus and then Nan and I went to eat at Kristin's house. Fun times. Then Bod wasn't there in Bio, so we "read the chapters", which really means that we talked and read our own books if we wanted. I read some in "Walking on Water" by Madelein L'Engle. I love her. So much. Well, I love her books, anyways. Then I looked at the sample transparencies for bio books and it was pretty cool. I like transparencies. Then I sat in Jordan's vacant seat and talked with Chris and Christian and Tillman and kindof with Evan. It was fun times. I think I'm going to sit in Jordan's seat some more when he is absent, which is often. Then we had a ridiculously easy quiz in spanish, which was almost the same question repeated 15 times with a different verb that he gave to you. We also got our newspapers, which we read for the remainder of the class period. When we were done reading we all just got up and talked and stuff and it was pretty fun. We laughed at parts of our school newspaper, because they were funny. And other parts because they were unintentionally funny. Hahaha. Oh my. Then I came home and chilled and then picked up Jill in Pilot, then ate at Monte De Rey with the fam, then went to the v-ball game for like 2 seconds and then went to the J.V. f-ball game. It was fun and funny.

Seriously, how long is this post? I think I'm tired of writing. Have a good weekend!

So. I am ordering The Flaming Lips CD (Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots) off of amazon, and I needed another CD to make it free shipping. So I looked at some of their suggestions, and I saw Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie and The Shins. Sarah G. told me about Postal Service like last year or the year before, and I thought they sounded cool but I didn't follow through. Now that I've kinda heard other people talk about it, I feel like a poser. I don't want to look like someone who just gets CDs so she'll look cool. I think I'm going to end up getting Postal Service, but then I can't choose if I want that or Death Cab because I might have enough electronic music with my Flaming Lips CD. So it is a dilemma. Am I a poser? Now that I write it all down I realized that I am not really a poser, and who cares if I am anyway? I just want to listen to good music. I think that is where I differ from my thoughts sometimes. Some people just get CDs and listen to music because they want to be a part of a certain crowd who listens to that kind of music. But the people who are in that crowd have already heard of the artists from somewhere else and are cool. I don't want to be a person who looks like she's trying to be cool. I really just like the music. So I think I don't fall in the "poser" category. But really, can any of us be posers? Yeah, I think some people are. But hopefully I am not. I listen to many different genres of music, depending on my mood. So I just succesfully talked myself out of my poser status.

I think I took insecurity pills or something last night. I've been feeling really insecure. Why? Why must I do it to myself? Why do I question my music preferences? Why do I feel like I'm always complaining? (because I am) Why do I feel like none of my jokes or attempts to be funny work out and I end up looking like a loser who can't make a joke? Why do I feel akward standing up in front of YL because I have to when I relished the time up there back when I didn't have to? Why do I ask these insignificant questions that will only add to my insecurities because I am identifying the ways in which I am insecure?

Whoa. I need to calm down. I'm stressed probably because I have a calculus test tomorrow and a biology test on thursday. I'm going to study for bio tonight and hopefully I know the calculus. I was confused on how she graded parts of my last test, which has some of the material we will be testing tomorrow, so that's not good. She needs to improve her grading handwriting.

This post is an example of why I need to listen to calm music- like the Flaming Lips. I am too hyper. But I do have my Polyphonic Spree CD, so that can put me in a nice, calm, hippie mood. Good. There we go. Now I'm going to go study for biology.

I like Ziggy's! I went for my first time tonight and it was awesome. I got to see Melanie, my bud from Area 3 @ GSW, and I got to see Pico vs. Island Trees! I also got to see Jerry Chapman, rockin' out. It was pretty cool. I once again realized my love for live music.

Congratulations to Audra Hodges, Mt. Airy High School's newest Homecoming Queen! You rock.

I'm @ Nan's house right now, blogging before we go back to the game. Jill says Nancy walked the best in heels. Haha. Everyone's heels were so cute- Audra's and Eve's round-toed ones were awesome. I love cute shoes so much, but I could never pull them off. While everybody around me was dressed up, I was wearing Chuck Taylor's, one blue sock and one purple sock, jeans, my GSW NS shirt ("the earth is flat- deal with it") and my cool earrings and a bracelet that Emmy gave me that is from South Africa. But it was awesome.

So I think I'm about to go back to the game and then to hang out at the dance and then probably over to church to watch a movie and then back home.

Fun times on a Friday Night in MA!
I ended up watching the debates, and I'm glad I did. Because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have been able to talk about it and I would have felt left out. It is good to know that people I talk to online are democrats, so I don't feel so outnumbered in my house.

By the way, on my "infinity post", there is a correction. The song is not called "Bodyguard"! It is called "Call me Al." I think.

I'm excited about going to Ziggy's tomorrow night. Pico and Jerry Chapman are playing! woot!

I was in a pretty good mood today, and then it all went down the drain for some reason. Blame it on hormones or something, since it is the easiest thing to blame stuff on when you're a teenage girl. I'm not really that moody, I think I have just been more "thoughtful" lately. Like I think too much into things. In a way, I'm glad. I think it adds depth to my character, in that I'm not so superficial. In another way, I'm not glad. Because it makes me too depressed to be thinking about the future or reading into things while everybody else is wondering what to wear on blue and white day. I think I'm just tired of superficiality. It is tiring. I don't know. Now I'm going to go watch CSI because I like it, and I'm not going to watch the debate because I can't vote and my family is conservative and republican and defensive, and I'm liberal and emotional. It's too hard to handle.

I had a lot of interactions with infinity today. We had to read a story for english that was talking about the vast infinity of the universe and then I got part of "Bodyguard" by Paul Simon stuck in my head- the part when he says "spinning in infinity..." But that's all I had stuck in my head... I couldn't seem to get any of the surrounding lines in my head. Whatever. Then in calculus we were talking about vertical tangent lines, and which infinity they went off to. I started thinking about infinity and it made me feel small, like the girl in the story. Like when I went out to my car before campaigners this morning, I had one of those episodes where you wonder what the point of life is. Like any life at all, not just mine. Like, what is the point of going to Campaigners if I'm just going to die in like 70 or 80 years, which is such a small fraction of the time that has already existed. I don't like feeling like this because I loose all motivation whatsoever. It is the ultimate senioritis. Weird.

My back hurts all the time and I've been in a bad mood all day and I have a headache. Ugg.

make that 6.
I just realized that I've started the last like 4 posts with "So." Weird.
So. Today I read my story in English class... in front of Dr. Farley. For those of you who aren't aware, it's about him. I called him short. I think he took it pretty well, considering. He said a couple things about how it was obvious and then how it was really good and then asked me what my name was. Yeah, I didn't tell him, mainly because he was joking. He said it a couple times. He also said he was going to go home tonight and craft his response. It was exhilirating and really quite fun. Thanks go out to Tillman on this one for giving me the idea. We are going to vote on who has the best story, and right now it's between me and Tillman. I say give it to Tillman since both were his ideas. Mine was mainly shock value, but his was influenced by strong bad and trogdor. It was really funny to those of us who are homestar buffs, but it was also just a good story for everybody. So I'm going to vote for Tillman's story. I hate votes and stuff, they seem to cheapen the value of the stories, because that's not why we wrote them. I like stories better when it's just a story and you can like some of them the same amount. I'm not one for playing favorites. There were a bunch of other funny things in people's stories, like when Rebekah said something about the wife of bath like- "why cross your legs and be a lady when you can open them up and be a skank" or something like that. I mean whoa. Some of them were really good. Nicole's had a nice moral, and Kathryn's was just like A Walk to Remember (she told me herself). So it was fun times, and tomorrow we get to have a Medieval food party. Fun times to the max, baby. When I told Mrs. Gray about my satire, she wanted someone to write a satire about her. I told her there was nothing to satire, but I think there's always something to satire about people. I don't know exactly how good of a satire it would be. I don't think someone could pull off an entire storyline based on her, but they could probably include her or something. Like I did w/ Mr. Castillo in my tale. He rounds down. Haha.

Anyways, so I'm gonna do some calculus homework or something. Gilmore girls comes on tonight!

Sunday, September 26, 2004

So, you know what I realized today? I'm just everybody's friend. People I come in contact with/ interact with on a day to day basis are all my friends. I like being people's friend. I'm not really anyone's enemy, I don't have crushes anymore (I talk my hormones out of being wacko, so it's under control) so I don't expect any more out of guys than to just be their friend. I'm glad I came to this realization. It is so much more fun to interact with people without wondering how they're judging you. I don't know why I felt like saying that, but I just thought of that and I just wanted to tell you that I like being a friend. It's kind of a weird statement. But I rarely ever make sense.

I also wanted to say that sometimes I think I'm cooler than I am and I have some cool standard to live up to. Like because I like music like the Flaming Lips, I can't like Ashlee Simpson. Like I'm a sell-out or something. But then I realize that I'm the kind of person that likes songs for the way they sound and it doesn't matter who sings it sometimes, even if they are sell-out-y. I don't really have a particular niche in the coolness scale. I have some hippie clothes, but I'm not all out hippie. I have chuck taylors and random shirts, but I'm not totally vintaged out. I love the 80's and their clothes, but I don't go ridiculously crazy about them.I have clothes from the Gap and from the Goodwill. Even if I sometimes feel like a sell out, I remind myself that I have nothing to sell out from. Who would I be betraying if I am not really totally invested in one era of coolness anyway? Am I making sense? There I go again. That's the second time. In this post. Oh me. What a silly goose.

So here is my story that I finally wrote. I had the worst case of writer's block, so I decided to start writing my research paper, when all of a sudden I could think of how to write this one. So the assignment was to write a second story of someone in the Canterbury Tales, since they all only got one (some didn't even get one). So I wrote it as the squire. Tell me what you guys think, or any corrections or suggestions or anything. Enjoy!

We start our story on a terrible day
When the King gathered the people together to say
“A few words” was all the invitation stated.
So the crowds showed up with their breath bated,
Waiting to hear what the news could be
From their short little king in his decree
It sounded ominous, and many assumed
That it would be bad- they were doomed!
Their undersized King stood up over the crowd
And started to talk, although not that loud
He didn’t have a loud voice because of his size
An amplification device seemed wise.
“To all my dear subjects, an announcement, have I,
All drinks and food in public surely should die.”
The crowd started muttering, “Can this be?”
“This surely can’t be happening to me.”
By the look on his face, they knew it was true.
No food or drinks, what could they do?

A group of peasants who were the best of friends
Got together to discuss this king who offends
Their very livelihood, and health for sure,
Because they can’t have their water so pure.
They tried different things to test
What they could do without an arrest.
They would sneak a cookie here and there
And try to avoid the guard’s stare.
The town proclaimer, McKenzie his name,
Decided to try and make it a game.
He announced to all that the rule was phony
And we could all drink and eat bologna
Wherever we wanted without prosecution.
He thought this would bring about a solution.

The King, having heard of their scheme,
Counteracted the efforts of our ambitious team.
He made an announcement of his own,
To say that the team’s cover was blown.
Sir Mac was no longer allowed to announce
Anything else or the guards would pounce.
It just so happened that another one heard
Of their valiant efforts to thwart this nerd.
Macado was her name, and she lived far away
But they knew that it was the only way
To set things right in our precious town
Against the will of the guy in the crown.

They started their quest to see this wise one
Who knew the way to bring back the fun.
The journey was not easy, because they needed to eat
But doing this in public was quite a feat.
They finally made it by sneaking around
And feasting off of berries they found.
Along the way, they met a great foe
Who knew what it was they wanted to know
To pass him they had to complete his quiz
It was a shoo-in because they had a whiz
Alex was his name, and he was quite the scholar
It even said so right on his collar
“Master of quizzes given by evil guys
On the side of the road sometimes in disguise”
Each question was worth 7.5
If he got an A, he would surely survive.
So with 15 questions, the foe gave his test
Alex didn’t know one, but he knew all the rest.
Knowing the regular rules of grading,
Alex knew he wouldn’t need persuading
To get this A with a 92.5,
That would surely round up and we would survive.
But no, such was not the way of the man
Whose people didn’t follow this plan.
They round down, a little known fact,
So the team then decided to break their pact.
To get revenge on him, they had a plan
So they picked up this little man
And put him in the back of their cart
And for the mountain they did depart
To find Macado- the wise woman
Who for their salvation had a plan.

Finally they reached her glorious abode
Only to find out she’d been turned into a toad!
The king had hired a witch, it seems,
And taken this feud to new extremes.
Faced with only one option, one choice
The team opted once more for the power of voice.
Three in their group had the power of rock
That they could use as a starting block
To show the King the error of his ways
And hopefully rid him of this horrible phase.

So they all got together and wrote a song
To show this king that drinks weren’t wrong.
It was by far the best song ever created
The group plus the frog and short man were elated.
They finally had the way to defeat the King
They would use their guitars and they would sing
Upon hearing this song, the King promptly replied
That he would set all his silly rules aside
And allow food and drink throughout the land.
So the song had worked out just as they’d planned.
A shout of rejoice and a cry of relief
Quickly replaced all feelings of grief.
The town was happy and water was back
And they all feasted on an afternoon snack.
The King and the townspeople were friends again
And they even had concerts every now and then.
The town was saved and they started a trend
Of eating and drinking, and this is the End.

So maybe that was my 300th post, and this one is my 301st post. Oh well, I guess it doesn't make any difference. Anyways... overall, this week was a pretty good one. It was premier week on most stations. Tuesday was Gilmore Girls (my favorite) and One Tree Hill. I didn't watch O.T.H. last year, but I decided to start this year since all my friends watch it, and I don't really want to be left out of their conversations. It's predictable, but there's nothing wrong with that. Then on Wednesday it was the Bachelor... I promised myself I wouldn't watch it but I got sucked in. I don't know why I do it to myself. It won't work out, I mean they see each other for like 3 days total and then all of a sudden they decide to get married. Whatever. Then on Thursday it was CSI (regular). I love CSI... everything is so cool, like all their investigations and stuff. Then Friday was Joan of Arcadia. I like that show a lot. But this year I don't like Joan! She changed b/c she thought she was crazy, so she tried to be normal. She was sketching me out. I hope she gets a clue real quick or else I'll be mad. Haha. As if my being mad would do anything. I live vicariously through the TV shows I watch.

So, on to other things. I've decided to make it a conscious effort to make eye contact more often. It's weird to all of a sudden decide to make eye contact. It is so personal, like there's nowhere tho hide. It is almost an exhilirating feeling to make eye contact for more than I'm used to. It makes the conversations a higher quality almost. It's like you're seriously interested in the conversation, and you can't get distracted. I think it is awesome, and I don't know why I was kinda afraid of it before. I would feel weird if I made eye contact for too long. I still can't keep eye contact all the time, like I have to break away sometimes, but I am making progress.
Happy 301st post, everybody!

So hello to all new readers of my blog. I seem to think there might be many of you thanks to the editorial in our good old Mt. Airy News Paper (from Monday). I might not be on the list of links, but, I mean, this is a pretty good blog. It's been going for a fairly long time. I would just like to say that this is probably one of the dull ones and my grandparents even read it. There might be some juicy stuff, but lately it's just been boring accounts of what I do. Which brings me to my next point (I think I said it over the summer)- my blog has become too journal-y. I just tell you about what I do and stuff, but I want to go back to writing about specific things that interest me.

For Example...

I remember my first interactions with "pop" music and it's addictive nature. I heard "Livin la Vida Loca" by Ricky Martin on VH1 I think. I was mezmerized. I couldn't get enough of it! I wanted to listen to it every chance I got. I was addicted. And then, it happened. I heard it one to many times. Then it became old and gross and overplayed and I just wanted to take a musical shower, you know... get some good refreshing songs out there for once. But then it happened again- in the form of Christina Aguilera's "Genie in a Bottle". Same story. I couldn't help myself. "Pop" music has a way of attatching to something in your brain... and it gives an awesome feeling, but then the grip seems to choke this receptor. It wears away and soon the gruesome ugliness of pop culture sets in. I become disenchanted by it's spell. Maybe this is why I could never be a diehard fan of a pop artist. By the time I actually got all of their stuff and went to all of their concerts, the receptor would have worn away and I would be left with a Britney Spears hangover (non-alcoholic for you newbies). It is terrible. I don't think I've been sucked in as often lately, I lean more towards non-pop music, so I can listen to it all I want. Soundtracks are good, because they might only have one popular song so you can just skip it and listen to all the other good songs. Also, getting a CD by a pop artist for just one song isn't always a good purchase. I get CD's of bands that sound interesting, and then all of their songs are good. Good musicians have a lot of good songs. Right now, tragically, my Relient K receptor has worn out just a little bit. I have memorized all of their songs, because I listened to them all of the time when I first got the CD's. Now I don't like to listen to them all the time. Just occasionally. And sometimes, I have to cancel out my pop intake with some Simon and Garfunkel or just plain Paul Simon. I mean, that's some good stuff right there.

Ok. I like that much better. Look forward to blogs like that, guys. Hey, leave comments, and don't be scared. Unless I don't know who you are, in which case you should sign it so I don't get creeped out. Please don't creep me out. Thanks. Right. I'm gonna go watch Oprah. Woot!

I like cartoons a whole lot more than kids my age. I don't know why, I just like them a lot. Like Recess, Fillmore, Chalk Zone, Kim Possible, Fairly Oddparents... you know, ones like that. Even though the kids are like 4th Graders or 10 year olds, they don't act like it. They have really cool plans and each episode is way cool. They aren't in a series so much, so you can just watch one and totally get it, even if you've never watched one before. I watched some cartoons this morning. Fillmore is a pretty cool one- it's about the safety patrol at their elementary school. They act/talk like real detectives and stuff. In Recess, they have an unwritten code of the playground and stuff... I mean, how cool is that? And their teacher, Mrs. Groetke is a total hippie. She doesn't shave her legs and one time was doing a math problem and was like: "If one feul-efficient vehicle saves 25 gallons of gas, then how many gallons of gas do 30 fuel-efficient vehicles save? Come on, kids... this is you're environment we're talking about!" Pretty funny. Mikey is a poet and he always says stuff like: "Tis far better to have a friend who is a loser than to lose a friend." Liking cartoons really helps me with my babysitting life. I will gladly watch the cartoons that the kids want to watch. Sometimes I'll be more enthusiastic about them than the kids. Haha. Sometimes I don't like the cartoon, like one time when we had to watch this really bad cartoonization of The King and I. It was horrible, I think I blogged about it way back when. Now video games are a different story. The only one I know how to play is Mario Kart. The other ones just loose me. I don't like the ones where you're going on a journey or something; I like more arcade-ish games. They are over pretty quickly and then you start all over again. Yup. Well, I'm off to enjoy my Saturday- I'm going shopping in Winston w/ the fam and then it's off to the Good Life for some good times.

I just watched Calendar Girls, and it was awesome. Great movie, made even better because I've actually had a cake from the WI. My grandma always buys sponge cakes from there... they are really good. I think I've even had one from Marks and Spencer... hahaha. I think you had to see the movie to get that one. So I've been hanging out all day, doing nothing basically. I was going to devote today for college applications and stuff, but I decided that I wanted to be lazy today. I guess I decided... do you really decide to be lazy? Or do you just realize that you've been procrastinating already and figure "why not?" Yeah, I think that's what happened to me. I realized that I wasn't getting motivated. Haha. I think I'll excercise tomorrow morning to get me in the active mood. That sounds like a plan. And then I am gonna go see Jerry and Cleve and Steve at the Good Life. That pumps me up a lot. I love it when those guys play. It's such a positive environment. All those parents and stuff... I feel like a minority (because I am) haha. So I'm glad I got out of my paranoid/depressed mood. I think it was the test that set me off. I got so stressed about it because I didn't devote nearly enough study time to it and I had my first piano lesson of the year the day before... things just weren't working out. I began to feel the grip on my academics slowly slip away. But I think that's a hump that I just needed to get over. One bad test and then I'm set for the year. I've seriously been going through some type of withdrawl. Now I'm back to my optimistic, cheery self. I needed this 3 day weekend. I mean, the only thing hanging over my head now is college apps, but I think I'll get some of those out of the way right now. Seriously this time... haha.
Sorry about that. I love my friends and my friends love me, they just don't call me. I'm just feeling sorry for myself. I think I was feeling too depressed or something, but I feel better because I just got out of the house and my hair is clean and flippy (and that always makes me feel good) and I got an air freshener that a) makes my car smell good rather than gross b) reminds me of camp cheerio (i don't know why). So I'm in a good mood. Now I'm gonna watch Napoleon Dynamite. woot!
Thanks for reminding me, last commenter, to blog about things I cry about. The only thing is, is that I can't do it when I'm not in the mood, and I'm not in the mood right now. So, I guess we'll have to postpone that one.

Well, my weekend seemed all planned but "tropical storm" Ivan has ruined my plans. Whatever. And now I am stuck at home working on college applications. I would hang out with my friends, but they don't call me, and I'm tired of having to call to find out what's going on, so I guess I'll stay at home. I can't wait for college. I'm really procrastinating on my Morehead application, but I'll finish at least one essay today. Hopefully more than that. Right now, though, I have to take Jill to the bank and then practice piano and then watch Napoleon Dynamite, probably not in that order.

So there you go, and here I go to do those things. I promise I'll blog later.

Spanish class with Mr. Castillo is kinda sketchy/ambiguous for many reasons. I will list them here in bullet/number format for your viewing ease and pleasure.

  1. He rounds down. This might not be a serious offense, if he just said deal with it. But he has very particular reasoning. He says that you didn't earn the other fractions of a point, so why should he round up? There is a flaw. By rounding down, he steals fractions of points away from us that we rightfully earned. This is the reason for many a 92 in his class (rightfully a 92.5). Why can't he just leave it at 92.5? Then he can just put it into the computer and let the computer round up for him.
  2. He doesn't know what you're asking half of the time. I think I've explained my frustrations on the whole question thing before. Most of the time he just assumes that we don't know anything, when we just want a particular detail.
  3. He doesn't know what extra credit is. That should be self explanatory.
  4. He doesn't catch on or get worried that someone is called out of our class every single day. This can be by the Journalism staff, the Yearbook staff (although not as often), the Office staff, the Guidance office, or just anyone who feels like talking to someone in our class. He just says whatever and lets them go. I don't think he really gets it.
  5. His tests and homework are very ambiguous. Our last quiz was on writing questions given answers, and the problem would look like this. "Ayer." That's it. And then there would be one "Ví un OVNI." What is an OVNI? Apparently it is the spanish version of UFO. Whatever. So it was really random and ambiguous.
  6. We are on page R25. That's review. There are 56 "R" pages. He plans on going through all of them. We've been reviewing for the entire 6 weeks so far. While Harlan's class is already failing and learning hard things, we are doing skits where we ask each other "Como te llamas?" I told him that we already learned past tense in Spanish 2, but he said "Yeah, we are reviewing present tense and then we'll learn past tense after the R pages." He didn't get it. Refer to point 2.
  7. He's making us do a play about "anything, it just has to be about people doing bad things with a moral." He says we're gonna perform them in front of the school. Let's just say that our play has people doing/selling drugs, beating their wives, and Mac & Andy in Ninja suits with a dog. (a live one) But that's probably not going to happen. Anyway, It's sketchy.

Those are the main reasons. I hope you get my point. I'm gonna go watch Gilmore Girls, but if I get fed up I'll go do my HW.

remind me to blog about things i cry about.
So. I haven't posted since Tuesday, except to blog about the comments. On wednesday, our power went out at like 5:30. It was cool in its own way. It was very laid back and calm and stress relieving. I think it's because flourescent lights cause stress. I did my homework by candlelight, finished the Knights Tale (of the Canterbury tales) that wasn't due til friday, and went to bed early. It was pretty cool. I think it would be fun to pretend there wasn't any electricity. I always end up watching TV when I'm bored, and it wastes so many hours. I kept thinking that I wanted to blog about having no electricity, but I couldn't. It was funny. Anyways. So thursday was a regular day. I can't remember anything special about it.

Friday was a pretty cool day. I had a test in Calculus, but it wasn't all that bad. Me and Nan went out to lunch at Barney's. It was way fun! I didn't want to go back to school, though. As usual. We did an osmosis/diffusion lab in Bio, and it was kinda boring. Just typical measuring and stuff. We sang the final countdown right before we checked our 15%Glucose/1%Starch bag. It was funny. Then spanish was 17 minutes longer because Beasley doesn't know how to properly punish the 2nd lunch messy people. At the end of class, Mr. Castillo, Anderson, McKenzie, and Nick did the macarena. It was pretty funny. Mr. C wrote down the lyrics to the first two lines and when I tried to sing them I realized that there were entirely too many syllables for the beat. It was funny. Then I went to Nan's after school to make some shakers. Mine was horrible. I deplore my artistic skills. But I did well on Ashley's. I guess I learned from my mistakes. The game was tons of fun, Nan kept making me take pictures. We were especially school spirited because we were gonna be on TV if we won or something. Then we went to Ashley's after the game to watch our team on the news. On our way over, we stopped by Anderson's house to say hey and have some chilly-willies. It was funny, because we kinda hot-pocketed. But it didn't really count because it wasn't like weren't wanted. The chilly willies were good. I came in and before saying hi to mr. rowe I asked where the chilly willies were. It was funny. Then when I asked Nan what color she wanted, McKenzie jumped up. It was funny. I think they didn't know who was there. Haha. It was cool hanging out, for like the 2 seconds we were there. Then we saw our team act like hooligans on TV. We looked skinny and small (in #) and hick and camera crazy. They wouldn't stop waving. I mean come on, it's the local news. Haha. I didn't attend Starr's party because those parties aren't fun unless your getting drunk, and I don't think I want to be getting drunk. I did offer to be Zack's DD, but he said he was just spending the night. Haha.

Today I was going to go see Napoleon Dynamite and go to the Goodwill both in Winston, but Jill couldn't come along and Mom said she didn't want me driving all that way to see a movie by myself. I guess I'll just have to wait till it comes out on video. Instead, I went to the recycling center, watched a bunch of True Life's on MTV, moped around, and came to babysit Jane on her awesome farm (where I am now). My side hurt all day. Chalk another one up to Ovulation. Mom kept thinking I had appendicitis, but it was on the wrong side. At one point, I was worried I had ovarian cancer. I was being a little melodramatic. Haha. So now my friends are apparently all going to Hooters (hutters... according to Mr. C) and I am here playing in a creek on a farm that looks like it could never be from Mt. Airy, in a ridiculously cute cabin, with Jane and Blair downstairs making me a drink. I'm getting paid to do this. It rocks. Thus far, I have successfully avoided ever going to hooters. I think I'll try to keep that record up. I don't think I like what Hooters stands for, but I mean I would go if it were in a different context. Like if we all knew it was a joke. Whateva.

So I miss GSW. Jessica has some good pictures of us hanging out in her room and on the patio. Ahh, the good times. It really was fun times. I need a reunion. I really do. So now I'm gonna go hang out some more. Adios!

Umm... thanks, commentor on the last blog.

I'm a little creeped out.
I would just like to say thanks for all the love in the comments on this blog. It is awesome. Rock, rock on!

I went to Emmy's wedding this weekend, and I loved it. It made me look forward to marriage so much. I can't even wait. I'm not depressed that I don't have a boyfriend, and I'm not depressed that I'm a teenager and not an "adult" yet, and I'm not depressed that I may never get married, because I totally know that I am. I'm just excited about what life has in store for me. I can't wait to be married. I'm looking forward to having a partner to be with me all the time. He will want to hang out with me. He won't want to hang out with someone else sometimes, and ditch me or anything. And it will be so much fun. I just can't wait. It put me in a good mood. But I am sad that Emmy is moving away. Because I love her.

I saw the best home rennovation I've ever seen today on Oprah. It was so good. Too good for words. Nate made over Paige's apartment. Holy cow. I've never seen anything so beautiful. I mean come on. I won't describe it here because I won't get the full and awesome affect. I mean, wow.

Um I like some songs. They make me happy. Like this one I'm listening to right now. "Halleluia" by Rufus Wainwright. It's good. It is a very nice song. There are other songs that I like a lot. I think I'll write them down every time I think of them, that way I can purchase them when I get my iPod for christmas. If I get it. Some songs make me happy and sad and a lot of different emotions all at once. I love those. Another one is "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. It will be the first song I dance to at my wedding. Because I love it. Songs make me happy. Good songs. Mmm.

I'm also looking forward to College and everything it has to offer. I think I keep forgetting that it is actually school. I just see it as a whole new social opportunity. But I will hopefully adjust. And if I go to UNC, Shmimmy can just tell me to study. And I will. Oh, how I love my shmimmy. Oh, how I love all my camp friends. I can't wait to see them again. I was thinking over the weekend about who to invite to my wedding, and I can't wait for the culmination (is that a word?) of all my favorite people all at one place. I don't want to waste my whole time talking to old relatives and "family friends" that I don't really want to talk to. I want to see all my bestest friends. It is so freakin exciting. I just hope I don't get stressed out and feel bad for hurting people's feelings because I didn't pick them to be a bridesmaid. Maybe I'll just make family bridesmaids. I don't like thinking about it too much because it is way to far away to be thinking about. I guess that's what weddings do to you. Anyways.

I'm glad that you guys who are reading this are my friends and you love me. Because I'm pretty sure I love you. In that friendly, plutonic type of love, but you guys know that. It's still as meaningful.

I think I'm tired of High School boys. The fact that they all seem to be attracted to one girl or something. And that all they want to do is get alcohol and cigars. I mean, come on. I guess this is because I went to Emmy's wedding and I realized that there is a good guy out there that is totally right for me and is waiting for me and I don't really need to waste my time on these silly boys. Not like I'd be wasting my time on them anyways. I just wish there was a better group of guys/people to hang out with. I get kinda bored with the same old stuff. Ok... enough of that... on to what I've been doing since the last time I formally blogged.

Wednesday was good, but kinda not good in a way. I went to Goodwill right after school with Nancy and Evan, and I got some awesome clothes for grit day. Way cool overalls that were plaid and tan and gross. And a racing shirt. (but it was Jeff Gordon and I'm apparently not supposed to like him... who knows). Then I drove all the way out to Tilley's to pick up my proofs. Turns out they are closed on Wednesdays. That ticked me off. I drove all the way out to Siloam for nothing. Then I called mom and told her I was gonna go wait for Charlotte to get out of V-ball practice and she said that was a good idea. After 30 minutes of waiting there, Dad calls me to tell me he's at Charlottes volleyball game. At Gentry. So that ticked me off again. Then I went home and did some homework or something. I always do homework. Oh, and I had to pick up Jill from the pool parking lot. That ticked me off again. I think I went to the soccer game too... I can't remember. Yeah, I think Nan took me.

Thursday I guess school was normal. I don't remember and I don't really care. Then I went back out to Tilley's again and got my proofs. Some of them were scary. My smile looked crazy because I was laughing but trying to keep my mouth in a closed smile shape. It was funny. Then I was talking to shmimmy about how we are gonna be roommates if we both go to UNC (!!), and then I realized that it was 5:40 and I was supposed to pick Charlotte up at 5:15. Haha. Then when I got back I had to go back out and get Jill. Uggh. Then I went to the JV football game and then over to Audra's. It was crazy, but I basically stayed in Audra's room and watched A walk to Remember. I went walking with Ash at one point. It was a crazy place. I was sketched out b/c there were boys sleeping there. I'm gonna not sleep over next time there are boys there. Just because they are probably sketchy. But I love Audra's house. I love her room and her decorations and her family. It's fun times. Jarret makes some good bagel bites... haha. So it was crazy.

Friday was grit day! We rode around in Lauren Goins' old truck. It was craazy. I smelled like exhaust all day. Then in English (after showing up late...) we had to say our prolouges. "Whan that April with his shoures soote... the drougt of March had perced to the roote" except you say it like "Whaan that Aprril with his shores soot-a... the droot of March had per-ced to the root-a" You just had to hear it for yourself. It was also funny because Rachael and I were practicing it at like 1 in the morning at Audra's house. I finally got it right, but in front of the classroom in my silly grit attire. Haha. Then calculus was funny because I kinda couldn't concentrate. I couldn't coordinate my thoughts well enough. Anderson and Chris looked pretty tired too. Then we went back to Audra's at lunch to get our cars and eat some (free- thanks mrs. H) food. Then Biology was fun b/c it was shortened. Spanish was basically a sleeping time, but Tillman and I worked on the script for Spanish. A little bit. Then there was a pep rally. It was kinda silly, and the Juniors were more of a senior class than we were. They are gonna have a rockin senior year. At one point we got the sophomores and the seniors to be quiet when they wanted us to yell. It was hilarious. Way to go senior leadership. I'm surprised the sophomores actually listened to us. Whatev. Then after school I got ready and Nan did my makeup and straightened my hair (her idea) and we went to the FB game. We won, 21-7. I was scared there for a while that we wouldn't win, but we pulled through.

Saturday I went to the natti for Emmy's wedding. I really want to talk about it but I'm actually quite tired of blogging. I'll do it later. I'm too tired. Au Revoir. Hasta luego. Arivaderce (sp?). Sionara. (sp? i don't even know)
Anyone want a g-mail account? Apparently I have 6 to give away. E-mail me if you do- refvemma@gmail.com

Friday, September 03, 2004

So today was grit day and I want to blog all about it and all about the days that I've missed in the blogging, but I am just too dang tired. I smell like truck exhaust/gas, and I'm wearing second-hand clothes, and I need a shower, and I need sleep and my stomach hurts. So maybe I'll blog later. As for right now, I'm gonna go take a shower. I promise I'll blog. But it might be after I get back from Ohio for Emmy's Wedding.

Tuesday, August 31, 2004

Yesterday was stressful because we had a test in Bio. It was very stressful, but it wasn't as hard as we all thought. My hand hurt so bad because I had to write two essays. I'm only used to writing one, so my brain and hand had to adjust. Then spanish was spanish as usual. Mr. Castillo didn't understand what I was talking about when I was asking him a question. It was frustrating, because he thought I didn't understand how to do it at all. Whatev. Then after school I went home and watched TV and sat around being lazy on the computer. I should have been studying for english, but whatever. I looked online for some music and a couple songs that I like. "Another White Dash" by Butterfly Boucher, "Take Me Out" by Franz Ferdinand, "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane. I like finding good music. I want to buy some more CD's. I like music. I need an iPod or something. I'll ask for one for Christmas.

Today was a good day, I guess. We had a test in English but it was basically memorization because she told us everything that was gonna be on the test right before we took it. Calculus was calculus, more beginner work on limits. Pretty easy so far. Then lunch was so weird. There was like one beep of a fire drill so everybody got up, but Mrs. George told us to sit back down because it was a false alarm or something. haha. False alarm. Then there was a girl fight. It was a hardcore fight. The girl was pummeling another girl who was basically lying down in the booth with her head against the wall. The punching girl got in at least 10 good punches before the authorities got there. Nobody was doing anything! Nobody was screaming, just all the girls at the surrounding tables (including myself) were holding their mouths saying "Oh My God". It made me sick to my stomach. I couldn't finish my fries. I especially lost my appetite when I saw a clump of the girl's hair on the floor. Eww. I was shaking. The whole experience was so scary because I was right there and I knew the girls and all I could think about was how bad it hurt that she was getting punched and her head was getting hit against the wall all at the same time. Yucky. Anyways. Biology was good because we had a sub so I got my English and my Calculus homework done while I was supposed to be reading chapters 6 & 7. Spanish was spanish as usual, just like it was yesterday. During one of our role plays Zack and McKenzie did theirs about me, and it was something like: "who did you call? emma. why did you call that prostitute? because. where did you go yesterday? emma's house." It was funny. I was cracking up, because usually Zack and I are partners and we make the silly skits like that. Mr. Castillo was like "do you know what you said? It is a harsh insult." He was all serious. I totally knew Zack was kidding. I didn't take it as an insult at all, which made it even funnier. I bet I was blushing or something. Darn pale skin.

So grit day is coming up soon. That pumps me up. I like Grit Day. Then I'm going to Ohio for Emmy's wedding! That really pumps me up. I can't wait! Yay! Now I'm gonna go hang out and probably go to bed a little early or something. I need the sleep. I love sleep so much. With a passion. haha.

I am taking a respite from studying for my first A.P. Bio test to blog. So. Let me tell you about my weekend.

Friday was a pretty good day. We had a test in AP Calculus, and it wasn't that hard for me. It's just review. Then we had some more study time in AP Bio because we got our books. Then we had the entire period to work on our scripts in Spanish. My camera came out and the boys started taking model shots. Check them out: http://community.webshots.com/user/refvemma. Meanwhile, Tillman and I worked some on our script. We got the first 3 scenes- they were very short. After school I went walking with Ashley on main street. It was fun, and I'm glad that I finally got some excercise. Then I went home and got ready for the game, and then Ashley came and picked me up. There was a bit of drama about the rides, but I think it got a little settled... I hope. The game was fun, and long. It was fun sittin w/ Ashley and Sami and Preston and Evan and McKenzie and Nancy. We got to shake these shakers that the cheerleaders made. They were fun. Towards the end of the game, we started yelling: "put taylor in" because he hadn't played the whole game. Then they put him in (not because of us... haha) and we cheered really loudly and stood up. It was funny. I think that was the first time I paid a lot of attention to an actual play. I sometimes pay attention to the ball after it's thrown or something, but I never see a play from beginning to end. It was pretty cool. I was really hyper at the game, and I don't know why. After the game, we waited for Taylor to come out of the locker room and then we went to TJ's Zesty Italian. I didn't even know this place existed, but apparently it's been there the whole time I've lived in MA. Weird. I calmed down and I had to go home right afterwards because my curfew was midnight.

On Saturday, I woke up at like 10:30. I love sleeping in. Then Dad and I washed my car. It was very detailed. It is very clean now. We waxed it, but the black stuff still didn't come totally off of my roof. Too bad. So my car doesn't feel as ghetto now. I can survive until I go off to college (wherever that may be). Then Mom and Dad and Jill and Charlotte went over to the Harts for a party. I went out to wal*mart and I got a cute track jacket and some cute shoes and a picture frame and then I went to eat at subway while my pictures were developing, and then I went back to wal*mart and I got a new cd (BarlowGirl) and my 7 or 8 pictures- costing only $3.15. That pumped me up. I came home and they weren't home yet, and Ashley called so we went walking again. It was fun again. Then when I got back at like 8:00, they still weren't home, and Ashley called again so I took a shower and then went to Taylor's house to hang out with Ashley and Taylor and Todd and Matt. We went to 89 Fun-n-wheels but Ashley and I just watched. It was funny to watch them. Evan met us there and then when they were all done with their tickets we went back to Taylor's house. We hung out at Taylors house for a couple minutes and then rode around... they wanted to go to Julia's party but that didn't happen because everybody left that party b/c it was lame and cops were circling it. Haha. Cops. Then Ashley wanted to go home and watch Soap Net and I thought it would be weird if it was just me hanging out with those guys because I was the only girl, so I went home too. I watched Noggin and then went to bed at like 1:00.

Sunday was a regular day. Church was good, Cleve's sermon was good. Now I have to go back to studying. I got in a groove and now I need to go over some stuff that I kinda forgot. I am over the hump of procrastination. It's weird. I don't think that has happened to me before. Whatev. Ok. Time to go. Hope you guys like the new template. I don't know how to put links on there, so sorry about that. I'm not very good with HTML and stuff like that.

As I get further and further into College decisions and things of that nature, Carolina keeps on rising up on my list. I originally didn't want to go there because I didn't want to go where 'everyody else' went. So I said no way. But then I realized that it was a really good college. Another pro is that Shmimmy and I will room together (!!!) if we both go there. Yet another pro is that I got the Morehead (sp?) Scholarship nomination (along with Alex... there's a funny story there, maybe another blog). I don't expect to win this nomination, because I know for a fact that I am not one of the 25 smartest kids in North Carolina. I don't have high hopes, but I do hope to make it past the first round. I think I can do that. But anyway. That's another pro. Another convincing point is that it is cheap. I hate spending too much money. I feel really guilty, and I don't want that feeling about the college that will ultimately play a huge role in my future. Dad finally admitted that the Corrolla that I currently have is really ghetto and he would think about getting me a new one but he also is thinking about how he is supposed to pay for Duke or Wake or Stanford. So if I go to Carolina, I might get a used car, and that is a hefty pro. Also, I think that if I wanted to go to Graduate School, I could go to a place like Duke or Stanford or Wake for that. It would be just as good. And I'm also thinking that I don't have to go to a big school like that to feel smart. I am not the smartest ever, just pretty smart. I don't even try to think that I'm the smartest ever. I'm most likely not the smartest person in our school. So why do I need to go to a huge school? I probably don't want to go to an expensive college to get a good education that I won't even use. I don't even know what I want to be yet. I just want to be happy with a job that I like and a life that I like. I don't even really like school all that much. I want to have fun. I don't think I want to have to worry about grades for four more years. I don't want to be a doctor or a lawyer. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. I don't think that is settling, do you? I think Carolina is a good choice. I sound like I'm justifying why I can go to Carolina. I think I just want to get into the other colleges to see that I could go there if it was what I really wanted, but maybe I don't really actually want to go there. Does that make sense?

I don't think I handle stress very well.

I have a cold. I want to sleep. We have a big Calculus test tomorrow.

But it will be Friday. Halleluia.

Wednesday, August 25, 2004

I think I'm allergic to the Jr. High or something. I've had a cold ever since we went down there for english. We're out for english, but back down there for calculus. By the time we get out for calculus we will probably have to go down there for Biology. Who knows. I hate being sick. My throat hurts and I couldn't sleep at 2 in the morning last night. I promptly got up and took 2 vitamin C and 2 motrins. Then I went back to sleep. My throat is still scratchy and I don't know why. I probably have strep, and it will hit me on the weekend so I won't get to miss any school. I guess it's better that I don't miss school. Whatever. I'm tired and I'm starting to ramble. I'm gonna go watch the olympics. Good night!

Tuesday, August 24, 2004

So I got a 50 on that pop quiz in biology. It was the highest grade. Holy cow.

Monday, August 23, 2004

I hate homework so much. But not as much as pop quizzes.

Bod got mad at us because we didn't "take advantage" of our study day last week so he gave us a pop quiz today. I missed at least 6. They are 4.5 points each. That means I'm maxing out at a 73. I think that's a quiz grade. Maybe he will give me extra credit because I was very specific on the nucleotides. I probably missed way more. Whatever. Maybe he will not count it. I don't feel bad, because I went to Windy Gap, I had Calculus and English homework as well, and we're not having our test for a long while, so why should I study when I have so much else to do? Oh my. So basically Bodnar wasted another class period with giving us that gross quiz and telling us about the labs we are going to do. I don't like him when he does stuff like that.

Today in Spanish, like every other day, we didn't do a lot of stuff. We kinda chilled out until the last 15 minutes of class where he gave us a mini review on past tense and then gave us homework to write a paragraph in past tense. What the heck!? We totally could have done that as classwork. Teachers need to realize that they should utilize the time we already have devoted to that class wisely. Basically, I am going to school all of my waking hours. I have to go to 7 hours of school in the classroom and then I have to come home and do almost 3 hours of school in my room. Holy cow! I kinda understand the advanced classes like Calculus and English because they have to fit a ton of stuff in before the AP Exam. But Spanish? That really annoys me. Tonight, I have homework in every single class. That has never happened to me before. It is pretty much ridiculous.

I guess that I'm trying to say that my academic day sucked today. It sucked a lot.

Sunday, August 22, 2004

So. Basically school has taken over my life and I feel guilty spending what little free time I have in front of a computer talking about random things. But I will try to post more often. I went to Windy Gap this weekend and I had tons of fun. So I will leave you with this...

This weekend was one of the more social ones in my experience. I went to a football scrimmage and then to Audra's for her's and Ashley's and McKenzie's B-day party, then I hung out at Taylor's with him and Preston and Nick and Evan and Todd and Nancy and Ashley, then back to Audras, then in the morning I went home and took a shower then hit the road for H-K-Wheezy where I hung out with Shmimmy and Megan (!!). We had tons of fun. We went to see "The Notebook" and apparently I have no emotion because I didn't cry. I guess I just wasn't in the mood. So we hung out at Barnes and Noble and went to Target and had dinner at their Country Club and then went home. I fell asleep at 10:30 because I got barely any sleep over at Audra's house. Then we went to church, and Shmimmy said it was the most random Sunday their church has ever had. That cracks me up. Then we watched Sweet Home Alabama and then I had to come home to babysit for the Baloghs. Their house is nice. I heart their computer. Then I came home and saw some of the parental's Doctor friends. Then I went to bed because I was so freaking tired. Today was a regular school day, and I was almost late for Bio because I left my house a little too late and I had to rush. Next time I know that I have to leave at a little before quarter till. That gives me about 15 minutes at home. Max. Maybe I'll eat at Dad's office or something. I don't think I'll keep on going home. Anyway. After school I did some homework and then worked on College Applications.

I am quite proud of myself because I am on top of things with my applications. I got all the teacher recommendation forms ready to give to my teachers and I've actually read what I need to do. I'm gonna send off some initial information sheets to open up my 'account' at the colleges. I'm kinda nervous. I don't want to decide my future now. I want to wait a while. Too many decisions. Maybe I'll conquer my fear if I don't procrastinate. That sounds good.

So I'm sorry for not updating my blog recently. I guess I just wasn't in the mood or something. Who knows. I'll try not to let you guys down. Haha.

I wish my (best) friends lived in Mt. Airy.

Monday, August 09, 2004

Guess what?! I'm gonna sleep on the hammock on Friday night. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe I'll be at a party instead. Everybody and their brother's birthday is on Friday. Jill, Audra, Ashley and McKenzie. And some others. It's crazy. Anyways, I liked biology today. It was funny. I always like Biology until I remember those dang tests. Too bad. I finished all my homework today before 5:15! I was proud. And happy and fun times. I went to the v-ball game and hung out with the folks and watched Nancy and Sara J do what they do. I'm sure glad I'm not playing any more. It was such a waste of time. Whew. I can't concentrate today. Do I have ADHD? I sure hope not. I need to read my book. But it's not due until monday. Good thing. I'm halfway done. I should read some. Geee whiz I must have had caffeine today. I am typing too fast and my sentences are too short and jumpy. I'll stop now.

Sunday, August 08, 2004

I love fall days. Today I sat out on the hammock for like 3 hours reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for my english research project. It's due Thursday, and I probably should have read it over the summer. I was going to read Catch 22 but it was too long and had too much stuff per page. It wasn't fast reading, because you had to pay attention to this guys ramblings. Cuckoo is much more mellow. I like it. I've read 134 pages already today. That's almost halfway through! Now I won't be as stressed on Wednesday night. So anyway, I loved laying out on the hammock. It was lovely. The air was just right and there was tons of shade and the pillow was really comfortable. It makes me wish I could just lie around like that every day. I think I'll make a habbit of reading on that hammock during the fall on nice days. It is mucho comfortable. Maybe I'll even sit out there when it gets a little colder. I could just sit in a sleeping bag. That would be so great. So I'm gonna plan on reading out there tomorrow after all my other homework. I get in a zone when I read. When I came in for dinner, my eyes wouldn't focus on anything. I was to zone-y. I get very involved in my book and I get confused if I start thinking about other things too much. Reading calms me down considerably. It is a very good stress reliever. You can escape your own stressful life and immerse yourself in someone else's problems or stories. I enjoy it.

I like fall. Today's and Yesterday's weather has felt very fall-ish. I love it. It is cool and refreshing and it smells nice. We leave our windows open to get the fresh air, and it makes our house smell so good. It reminds me of a time when I was very happy. I can't really describe it. It's not like I'm not happy now, I am just reminded of a simple, happy, stress free time. Like I had nowhere else to be and I had nothing else to do. The only thing I had to do was sit around and smell the nice air. I didn't care that I wasn't hanging out with my friends. I was my own best friend. I didn't need anybody else's companionship for just this one time. I felt very introverted. Sometimes I like being introverted and lazy. I forget about drama and I forget about school and I forget about being social and everything that goes along with it. I don't worry about whether or not I have a best friend, or if I'll ever have a boyfriend. My cares just fly out the window. Smelling this smell makes me feel really peaceful. I'm wearing comfy pants, which helps complete the relaxed feeling. I love fall. I love it so much. I hope there are a lot of peaceful fall days this year. Ones like this, where I don't even leave my house. I just hang out all day without wearing shoes. I stay in my pajamas until 3 in the afternoon. I accomplish things (my laundry). I don't have anything looming over my head because I've already finished my Calculus homework. It is at times like these when I wish I did yoga. I think it would make days like this occur more often. I like it that smells bring back memories. I also like it that this smell brings back good memories. I heard somewhere that the sense of smell was linked very closely to memory. I think that's cool. Well, I'm gonna go read some more in Catch 22. I might even switch and read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Who knows.

My ears are still ringing from the Slushie concert I went to at the Coffee Bean tonight. It was rockin'. That Tillman sure knows how to rock out. I got a CD and a free sticker and a free poster (autographed). Rock, rock on. Tillman said that when he's rich and famous and giving an interview, he will randomly interject: "Emma Refvem was in my AP Biology class". That's my 15 seconds of fame. More power to him. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

So I'm back. I didn't really go anywhere specifically, I just couldn't access my blogger account. So much has happened! I wanted to record my feelings after coming home from GSW, and I wanted to tell you all about my hiking trip and all about Bikestock and all about my trip w/ youth to Busch Gardens and my new digital camera and so much more! It all happened in the two weeks I was bloggerless. Tell me if you really want to know about it, and I will surely blog. I'm hoping to turn this back into a blog where I talk about my ideas and thoughts rather than just journaling everything that happens. Maybe I'll do a week summary every Saturday or Sunday or something. That way I can post my thoughts during the week so you guys won't get bored with what I'm doing.

So today was the last first day of the rest of my pre-college education. What an exciting last first day it was. I have a touch of senioritis, and a touch of anxiety about all my AP exams in the spring. AP English looks like fun. Mrs. Goldwasser is my advisor for AA, so I'm already on her good side. Lots of fun people in that class. AP Calculus looks like it will be a typical math class, just hard. We already have lots of homework (that I should get started on) It's weird being in a math class withouth Nancy and McKenzie because they were in both of my math classes last year. 1st lunch has good people. All my friends to sit with. AP Bio was funny because Bodnar was trying to scare away some people because our class is too large. We took a test. It didn't count. Thank goodness. Spanish 3 is awesome. Mr. Castillo is cool, has a sense of humor, writes neatly, and we can understand what he is saying. There aren't any of my friends who are girls in that class. Just boys. I sit beside Zach Hill and Zach Ayers and Tillman and I sit near McKenzie and Anderson. I'm excited. I feel really low key in that class. Like I don't have to talk a lot or be very boisterous. I can just chill. I'm looking forward to it.

Senioritis kinda sucks. Seriously, 179 school days left. I hope I get over it soon.
HOLY COW

The Agassiz project presentation was cool. They used dancers and stuff and had some power point presentations. I liked it. Afterwards, we all sprinted to the drama workshop to see the final performance. It was hardcore. They turned off all the lights and were seated all around the room. It was pretty cool. Then we hung out at the fish pond for a while until the orchestra concert. We sat two rows behind NC's family. We looked at them and realized that it could only be NC's family. I know all of their names. Rock on! They have cool names. Then we hung out on the patio until Curfew. As I have stated before, I love hanging out. We played ERS and solitaire and listened to CDs. Then when we got back to our dorms, Monica had a praying mantis in her room. It was huge, but cute. It was staring at us. Katherine saved it and we put it outside in the bushes. That makes me happy that we saved an endangered species. Then NC and I stayed up until like 12:30. This morning was our last class with Uncle Charlie. We just IM-ed and checked emails and stuff. Then we had our last Area 3. We took some pictures. Then I packed up some of my stuff and then went over to Megan's room to hang out. Then we hung out and took pictures and ate Ice Cream with the science kids. It makes me kinda sad, but the fact that we're leaving hasn't really hit me yet.

This is probably the last post at GSW, because I'm gonna be hanging out with my friends until I leave. Adios!

Thursday, July 22, 2004

As my days here at GSW are coming to an end, I am saddened. I am sad that I won't get to hang out as much as I can here. People aren't as readily accessible to hanging out at home. Last night, we just took my CD player out on Clewell Patio and played cards and listened to Rooney and 13 going on 30 soundtrack and Nickel Creek. It was awesome. I love hanging out. I'm also sad that I won't be meeting so many way cool new people. I'll miss that. I'll miss these people! It's kinda depressing. Today was our last Area 2 class. We had our last discussion about schools and what we'll miss and our system of distributing money that we came up with before. Then we took some group pictures. It was depressing. I liked that class a lot. We had some good discussions.

Today was our last 4th period "Philosophy of Science" class. We talked about conversation patterns and about how the general male way of talking is very athoritative and it is competetive and tries to establish a hierarchy while the female way is to relate to personal experiences and tries to establish community. After we pointed this out and had discussions, we kept finding examples. I was talking about my personal experience and Christian interrupted me to say something. It was classic. I couldn't get my point across, though, because Patrick started jumping up and down because he found it hilarious.

Today also was the Science and Mathematics Academic Fair. Our mirror group did a poster. Some people were genuinely curious, some were just too confused to care, and some thought our "baffling question" was totally obvious. But it was fun. We were going to play Christina Aguilera's song "Reflections" from the Mulan soundtrack in the background. Get it? Mirrors... Reflection... right. haha. Some other groups did shoelaces and some did bubbles (Megan's group) and some math kids did some cool stuff with "Six Degrees of Separation" and the Rubik's cube (they were showing a clip of a guy completing it in 18 seconds) and the physics of Billiards. It was pretty cool. I saw the guy solve the Rubik's cube while I was sitting right there. He told me that they provide new Rubik's cubes at competitions that are already greased up, for optimal speed. It was awesome. The knot poster was cool, because two of the kids that got assigned knots (randomly) were Eagle Scouts. There were tons of cool knots. Then I started talking to those guys about how I wish I could have been a Boy Scout because I want to burn stuff. Steele said that there was a coed thing that Boy Scouts does called "Ventures" for ages 14 to 20. I wish. I think I've already blogged about the injustices of Girl Scouts, so I'll spare you. Just check the archives. So that was a fun time. We took a cool picture of our group. Scott, Meredith, and I stood together and Meredith and I held a mirror in between us. They took the picture so you could see Eddie's reflection through the mirror. It rocked. Way to integrate the mirrors in to the group picture. Because they are a part of our group. Is it bad that I broke 2 mirrors through the course of this project? Maybe. But I sure hope not.

Now I have to go to another Agassiz project (this time it's an "Optional" Seminar- it's not optional for science kids). Then I think there's an orchestra concert and then we get to hang out for a while. I hope. So Adios, amigos!

Wednesday, July 21, 2004

So I did end up reading Jane Eyre, and then I went to the Academic fair for Social Science and English and Spanish. I learned some about Hispanic culture and had some good food and heard some good poems. Then I hung out in my room because I didn't want to see A Beautiful Mind. I felt like a loser. I didn't go to swing dancing and then I hung out in the computer lab until I saw that nobody was getting off any time soon and then I checked the action in Babcock basement and then I finally found a home in our basement watching LOTR 2. You can always count on LOTR. Then it was the final night of MSCL! It was sad, but I guess it was the only way they could have ended the season. Too bad Claire Danes decided to quit the show after only one season. That is depressing. But I still love the show! It was fun times and good memories.

Today was a good day. I got to write a letter to myself that Tim will send to me in a year. (Area 3) It made me happy. Then I had to do an evaluation. I hate evaluations. They make me feel weird. I just don't like them. And I also had to do one for Science. It was so general and open ended and not fun. But that's ok. I'm all better now.

I can't wait to see all my friends again. Cheerio friends and Home friends and Church friends and friends friends. I miss them. But not too bad. I'm still sad to be leaving here. And when I get back to my friends I'll realize that I want to see my GSW friends. Darn it. I don't want to get my hopes too high about the greatness of this school year. It probably won't be that great. I think that this year will be different in that I will be able to talk myself out of my paranoia and depression more so than last year. I'm glad. I just haven't seen most of my friends in like 7 weeks. And that makes me sad.

So I'm gonna go make the most of these last few days here at GSW! ahh

Tuesday, July 20, 2004

Yesterday was fun. There was a thing that they called "Arts Happening" at night. The kids from instrumental music and dance and art collaborated and split up into groups and did very interesting presentations all over campus. It was fun. Then a lot of folks went to watch Carlos Fuentes play his "Fantasy" song that he composed while here at GSW. Everybody was blown away and amazed. I was kinda amazed, but I found it kinda chordy and redundant at times. Still, it was way better than anything I could have done. Way to go, Carlos. Then we had an informal discussion about college life for women in our parlor. It was kinda funny. I'm now tired of talking about college. I'll think about it later. Then we watched MSCL. 2nd to last one ever! Ahhh! It was very good. I'm excited and sad about the last one. I can't wait to watch this late at night on Noggin. Until the school year starts.

Today was fun too. I guess. Just regular. We went on a walking tour for the "Structural Cracks" agassiz group. We got to play Red Rover for like 2 seconds. I got to go over. And I broke through. Rock on! Then we had Panera in Area 2!!! I had the most awesome Tuna Salad Sandwich ever. And then we discussed our economic systems that we made up, and the one we chose ended up screwing everybody over. Someone who was arrested but not convicted of murder got the most money. It wasn't a very good system. It was almost too unbiased. At least the Panera was good! It was the best meal I've had in a while. I had Fruit Loops for B-fast and Dinner today. That probably isn't healthy. Oops! Then in Charlie's class, I found some more GSW/TWB connections. I love those. After Charlie's, I watched a movie called "No Man's Land." It was funny and depressing all at the same time. Too bad. Now I'm going to go read some Jane Eyre.

Word around campus is that our AP scores are back. I don't know mine yet because my parentals are in SC until Wednesday night. So I will be kept waiting until then. But I'm not that curious. It's funny hearing the buzz about school and AP scores and stuff. I find it funny, at least. Ok I must go. Adios!

Sunday, July 18, 2004

So I didn't end up swimming laps or taking naps, but I did read Jane Eyre. I read like 40 or 50 pages. It is very interesante. I took a 30 minute nap after reading some at like 5:00, and it totally made me feel spaced out. I went to dinner all by my lonesome partly because I was spaced out and partly because I was spaced out and partly because when I read, I really immerse myself into the story. So when I'm not reading, I'm still kind of in their world. I don't feel lonely. Then NC came up and hung out. We had ice cream on Clewell patio and we hung out on the grass. Then I hung out with Brooke and Christine and some chorus folks on Clewell patio. It was tons of fun! I love hanging out. It's very fun times. So then I had to go to the Dance performance. It was really interesting and good. We were all sitting in circles on the gym floor and they came up and hugged you or something. You had to be there to get it. Then at 9:30 or so we watched School of Rock in the Gym. That movie is freakin hilarious. I like the part when Jack Black says: "The man ruined the ozone, burned down the Rainforest, picked up Shamu and put her in a chlorine tank." Hilarious. I actually stayed awake! I'm proud of myself. After curfew, we watched My So Called Life. I love that show. I went to bed at like 1:30, which is an awesome time to go to bed. You aren't as tired as you think in the morning!

So this morning I went to Pinedale. It was awesome. Totally awesome. Also, the drummer was too hot to handle. That didn't hurt. But the actual spiritual part was soo cool. I loved it. And then, after church, Courtney came to take me out to lunch! She got lost for a little bit, but she totally asked for directions. (way to go, Courts! you rock!) We got lost on the way home from Applebees, but it's all good. I got a camera at a CVS on the exit that we turned around at. (Sorry, I just ended my sentence with a preposition) After Courtney left, I hung out with Christine and Brooke for a few minutes. It was fun! I love those kids! Then I went back to my room and read some more Jane, and then Jessica from next door asked me if I wanted to eat Pizza with her. I did. So we had some thin crust Ham and Pineapple. Awesome. Then at 6:00 I made some posters with my Agassiz group. It was totally fun hanging out and making posters. We are so lazy and so silly, but we finished and it's not due 'till Thursday. It was way fun. Then I hung out with Ashley (and the Drama kids... kinda... but not really because they are an elitist cult) on the lawn. We did some cartwheels, we hung out, it was fun. Then I watched the end of Remember the Titans, and then I watched this way psychedellic band, "Art Lord and the Self Portraits". They were so weird. They're probably still playing. I took a picture. Then we hung out in here adn played some twister. Fun times. I had some good phone convos with my parentals and my sisters. I've been having some good phone convos lately. I like it.

So sorry for that rundown of what I did. You might be bored. Oops. It was an awesome weekend, compared to the other weekends. Well, the other weekends added up. This one had the best overall score. I'm starting to get a little sad that we have to leave on Saturday. I love these people here. I like meeting new people and hanging out with them. It is so fun. I am looking forward to school too. But I know that I will probably get sick of school really quick. But I never really got out of the school groove, so I'll hit the ground running at the beginning of the school year. You know, when everybody else is remarking on how they forgot how to write and stuff. Well I'm gonna go hang out or something. Haha.

Saturday, July 17, 2004

Supersize Me was really good. Funny and good and eye opening. It makes me want to eat fast food less often. It was great that we walked there. At least I got some excersize. But we ate pizza afterwards. Haha. I decided that if I lived in California, when I ate fast food it would only be In-N-Out. They are respectable in the Fast Food world- according to the book "Fast Food Nation." Way to go. After the movie, I could have seen "Bowling for Columbine" but I didn't want two shockumentaries in one day. So I was going to go swim laps, but when I got to the pool I found out it was closed. So I hung out some more with the Spanish chicas. After room check I watched "Requiem for a Dream" NC and Helena and some other girls. It's very depressing. But interesting. Helena's words of wisdom afterwards: "Don't do drugs, kids." So true. I expected to have bad dreams afterwards, but I didn't remember them if I did. Thank goodness. I got out of both of my classes early today. Fun times! I have absolutely nothing to do this afternoon. I'm going to read and swim laps and take naps. Sounds like fun. I might also watch some TDF live coverage and stuff. I don't know. Adios!

T-shirts and designs have taken over Governer's School West. They are everywhere. We decided on our Science T-Shirt (i did the bubble letters). It is green with white writing. I'm excited! I'm only allowing myself to get three shirts. The GSW class shirt, the science shirt, and the MSCL shirt. There is a slight dilemma, in that I ordered a medium for the class shirt. It is probably going to be too big, because Leslie's small from last year was pretty big. So I ordered a small in the science shirt. Maybe one will be too big, or one will be too small. I need to go change my size in the MSCL shirt. I originally said medium. I think it is going to be pink with black print, but some people don't like that. I think it should be burgundy like Angela's hair. It is more 90's. The GSW class shirt is kinda cheezy, but I had to get that one. I mean, it is the main shirt. I'm buying way less than other people. Some people are getting like 8. Holy cow. Seriously- that is too many shirts in one summer.

The t-shirt phenomenon is affecting me, too. While I was thinking about the Environmental Club (which I'm thinking of bringing back to MAHS this year) and stuff we could do, I thought to myself: "we could totally make t-shirts!" That would be pretty awesome. I think the whole idea of an Environmental club is pretty awesome. I realized that I would like one when I kept trying to convince Interact club to do a project to save the rainforests. I can't wait. yay!!! I might have too much homework and stuff, but since I'm not doing volleyball...

Jessica said I should make a superhero for myself. I always tear down the signs for things that have already taken place. I love ripping them down. Especially those Chorus Groupies ones. They are everydangwhere. I am keeping the campus clean and flyer free. Yay!
